The Community Baboon Sanctuary (CBS) was founded in 1985 by Dr. Robert Horwich, an American Primatologist and Fallet Young, a landowner in Bermudian Landing. It started with just 12 landowners and today it has the support of over 200 private landowners in seven different villages. The population of the Black Howler Monkeys has grown to over 2,000.
The Sanctuary has four main goals:
- Conservation
- Education
- Research
- Tourism
